After our visit at Chiang Mai University, we headed over to the Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine Center (TTCM). Here they practice western medicine, Thai traditional medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine. For the western medicine they only do complimentary medicine such as taking blood pressure. In the Thai traditional medicine department they offer different massages such as the Thai massage with or with out an herbal compress, foot massages, and Threesukon massages, just to name a few. The Chinese traditional medicine department offer services such as acupuncture and cupping therapy. Cupping therapy is a technique where you heat up a cup and then place the warm cup on the desired location, which then creates a suction. It is used to help with pain, inflammation, and blood flow. Here is Joe demonstrating cupping therapy (he said that it didn't hurt, even though it looked pretty painful):
