Elephants day 1

Today we went to the Thai elephant conservation center, where they take care of around 110 elephants. First we stopped at the elephant hospital and saw where they take care of the elephants when they get sick or injured. They even have an elephant ambulance.

Next we had a few minutes, so some people fed a couple of the elephants and boy were they happy(the elephants that is)! Then it was time for the elephant baths. They got right in the water and enjoyed their cleaning. One of the younger elephants was having a grand ol' time splashing all around with his trunk. A few people even got a free shower at the end.

After they were all nice and clean they put on a show for us. They showed us how they help the trainers get on and off of them, they can carry things such as logs with their tusks, use their trunk to move things out of the way, and how they can pick up various objects with their trunks, including garbage and throwing it away. Oh, they can paint too!

At the end people got to go on elephant rides, through the water and around the jungle.

This one looked so relaxed just resting their trunk on the bar
