Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital
Today we visited the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai hospital in the morning. We had the privilege of touring their inpatient and outpatient pharmacy. The outpatient pharmacy fills about 2,400 prescriptions a day! As you can imagine the pharmacy was very busy. There were about 100 patients in the lobby waiting for prescriptions while we were there. The pharmacists said the wait time can sometimes be up to 3 hours. What I found really interesting is that at all the pick-up windows there were only pharmacists. This is so the pharmacists can counsel every patient who picks up a prescription. The outpatient pharmacy is open 24/7 and takes over the inpatient side when that department closes at midnight.
